My Story

I love being active.  Playing on sports teams and hiking throughout high school and college I naturally stayed fit and had a lot of fun doing it. When introduced to a workout regime by my college volleyball coach I initially hated working out.  Playing on sports teams was fun but "counting reps" at the gym was not!  My norm changed from playing sports on a daily basis once I graduated from college with my degree in Sports & Recreational Ministry & Administration. I coached youth sports teams and played beach volleyball once a week and so stayed in the "team sport world" for several years, though I wasn't as active as I was in the past and started to let my "fit-ness" go as a result.  I decided to join a gym and try some group fitness classes to see if that was more enjoyable than I thought "pumping iron with the boys at the gym" would be.  To my pleasant surprise, I loved group fitness!  There were group fitness classes that had cardio, and others that did weight training to music, I fell in lovvvvve!  I attended step classes, spin classes, weight training classes of all sorts.  After about a year people started asking me if I was an instructor (obviously because I was in great shape and doing the classes like an expert...ha ha, yeah right).  The movements, the musical rhythms, and the enthusiasm just came naturally to me.  Sooo, I decided I might as well look into becoming an instructor if people already thought I was one!!  Throughout the next three or so years I became a spin, strength, older age, pre & post-natal fitness instructor, and personal trainer, teaching all different kinds of classes.  Fast forward another 5 yrs or so and I became a mom, and continued instructing throughout pregnancies and raising toddlers and I have been so happy, fitness is my "Thing"!  Now that my kids are older…and actually now both in elementary school…I have moved towards personal training more as well. I really enjoy working with fellow “mom’s” and especially those that are athletes. I want to help athletic moms remember how using their bodies in sport and play can feel, and for them to experience the pure joy of “playing” again. I feel so privileged to have a job that gives me satisfaction, allows me to stay healthy and strong, and allows me the freedom to care for my family’s needs as well - what a gift!
